«IN THE BRAIN» is the latest creation by Hofesh Shechter and his company Shechter II, which will celebrate its world premiere as part of Steps. The London-based, internationally acclaimed artist is renowned for the intensity and momentum of his distinctive ensemble work. This collective energy is also palpable in «IN THE BRAIN»: eight young dancers aged between 18 and 25 explore the parallels between club culture and contemporary dance. Part rave, part ritual: a euphoric experience for all the senses.
Developed from CAVE, a 15-minute choreography originally created for the Martha Graham Company and Studio Simkin, Shechter works with his young ensemble to create a full-length piece.
The work revolves around the nightlife and the energy that is released when people dance together. «IN THE BRAIN» dissolves the boundary between stage and audience, leaving you wanting more: a pulsating journey into the depths of human consciousness – where stories dissolve, identity fades and only the beat remains.
